A bun in the oven

Sorry I couldn’t resist the corny pun! I’m thrilled to share that my husband and I are expecting our first child in April 2016!  We are beyond excited to go on this journey together and are counting down the days until our little pumpkin arrives!

As you know, I like to plan πŸ˜‰ so I’ve already started doing tons of research on baby products, day cares, and nursery themes. (Please comment below about any baby product you consider a must have!)  Between the baby research, my HUGE levels of fatigue, and strong smell aversions from the frist trimester, cooking became somewhat impossible!  There were weeks I coudn’t even scroll through my instragram newsfeed because of all the food pictures.  I wanted nothing to do with cooking, planning, or being around food in the kitchen.  Thankfully, between my wonderful husband doing all the planing, cooking and cleaning and my parents allowing me to take pictures of their cooked meals, I made it through! 

For the next serveral months, I am going to take a break from the weekly meal planning. However, I will still post pictures and recipes on my instagram here and there and next month I will have a Thanksgiving special, but right now I want to enjoy this time and focus on our little growing family! 

Thank you to all who have followed me, don’t worry I will be back and who knows, maybe one day have a new section for homemade baby food! 


Week of October 4th


MondayPulled pork tacos.  I used the left over pulled pork from last week to make tacos

TuesdaySweet potato soup. This recipe is so simple and it tastes great!!  You will love eating this on a cold night! 

Wednesday– Chicken and rice. Another simple meal, white rice cooked with a little chicken stock for more flavor add to shredded chicken breasts. You can buy a rotisserie chicken and shred the meat or simmer two chicken breasts for about 10 minutes. 

ThursdayCrockpot chili. Yum! This is my favorite turkey chili recipe! 

FridayPumpkin tortellini  with roasted brussel sprouts! For the tortellini, I used milk instead of heavy cream. It was the first time trying both of these recipes and they didn’t disappoint! You will love them too!
